O Ypiranga Clube foi fundado por iniciativa de um grupo de jovens ligados à JOT, Juventude Oratoriana do Trem, grupo da igreja católica de Nossa Senhora da Conceição, no dia 15 de maio de 1963. Hoje, o Ypiranga representa a paixão e a esperança de muitos amapaenses de levar o futebol amapaense à 1ª divisão do futebol brasileiro.
